Submit a Project Concept
|
Researchers interested in submitting a Project Concept to The Biomarkers Consortium should complete this Project Concept Submission Form and send it via e-mail to the Foundation for the National Institutes of Health at biomarkers@fnih.org. The purpose of the submission is to succinctly and clearly define the background and rationale for the proposed project, and to describe findings that demonstrate the feasibility of the proposed study and the likelihood of the expected outcome. Approval of project concepts are based on (1) suitability to the goals of The Biomarkers Consortium, (2) scientific importance, (3) clinical importance, (4) regulatory importance, (5) feasibility, (6) degree of providing commercial implications, and (7) whether partners have been identified to conduct and fund the project. Project Concepts for any therapeutic area of biomedical research are encouraged. Upon submission of a project concept, the project concept will be sent to the appropriate Steering Committee for review. If there is no Steering Committee for the proposed therapeutic area of research, the project concept will be sent directly to the Executive Committee for review. Should a project concept be approved by the relevant Steering Committee (or the Executive Committee) for further development, a Project Team will be assembled that includes the submitter(s) and other interested parties representing government, academia, and the private and non-profit sectors. The Project Team, with support from the assigned Consortium Scientific Program Manager, will develop a full Project Plan (using the Consortium's Project Plan Template describing the proposed details of the project. Note that The Biomarkers Consortium is not a funding entity. The consortium is soliciting promising biomarker concepts which, if approved for implementation, may be developed further. Upon approval, the Foundation for the National Institutes of Health will seek the donations needed to carry out the project.
